WCA - Progressing to Uni 1

Progressing to Uni

Weighted Average Mark (WAM)

To progress to university or other courses, such as a WCA diploma, you will need to achieve a final Weighted Average Mark (WAM) and meet minimum scores in specific subjects, such as Academic English and Mathematics.

The WAM requirements for current students are below:
WAM requirements for Foundation Studies and STEP students
WAM requirements for University Access Program students
How is my WAM calculated?

Moving from WCA to UOW

WCA results will be released approximately one week after the exam period.
WAMs will be displayed in the WCA reception on the notice board and individual subject marks will be on SOLS. UniAdvice automatically receives all WCA results so there is no need to bring your results to UniAdvice.

If the required WAM or result is achieved, UniAdvice will send you an email notifying you that your conditions have been met and your UOW offer has become validated. You will not receive a new offer letter. Please ensure your contact details are correct on SOLS, especially your email address.

Once you receive this confirmation email you will need to follow the link provided to accept, decline or defer your offer. Web links for UOW enrolment and orientation information will also be included in the email sent to you by UniAdvice.

What happens at enrolment?

The purpose of enrolment is for you to enrol in your subjects and tutorials.

On the day, academic advisers will help you choose your study program. However, if you would like to find out about your subjects beforehand, please visit the University's course handbook (link to UOW current students handbook)

On enrolment day you will also collect your UOW student card, which acts as your library card as well.

On enrolment day you must bring:
• your offer letter
• your tax file number
• evidence of citizenship/permanent residency
• a pen.

You should allow at least two hours to enrol.

What do I do if I have not met the required WAM?

If you have not met the WAM but still would like to study at UOW, you may be able to repeat your WCA program. Please make an appointment at WCA reception to speak to a WCA academic advisor about your options.

You will need to defer the commencement of your UOW degree by filling out the online deferral request form.

Please note: If you have missed out on your target result by only a small amount (1 or 2 WAM points), you may wish to discuss your options with UniAdvice.
