Terms and Conditions of Scholarship
yellow_bullet Eligibility for scholarships is determined by the student’s place of citizenship AND residence at the time of application (e.g. if the offer is made for the territory of Hong Kong, the holder of a Chinese passport living in Hong Kong is NOT eligible; the holder of a Hong Kong identity card or British passport living or studying in China is NOT eligible). Scholarships are not available to those already studying or living in Australia.
yellow_bullet Direct applicants as well as those applying through an agent are eligible for a partial tuition scholarship
yellow_bullet For English language courses, if the course is subsequently shortened or part refunded, the refund is made in accordance with the fee applicable to the actual course length taken e.g. a student receives a partial tuition scholarship of $1200 for a 20 week course, and the net fee paid is $6,000. If the student is eligible for a part refund after 10 weeks of study, then the refund will be calculated as $6,000  less 10 weeks x $360, or $2,400.
NOTE: a student who passes their English language course at the level required to enter an academic program at WCA, or a degree or study abroad program at UOW, is entitled to a part refund of tuition fees for the unused balance of their course.
yellow_bullet Where a student extends their course after commencing a course at WCA, the tuition fee for the period of the extension will be at the full tuition rate (NOTE: exception applies for Thailand – refer to scholarship document on representative site) NOTE: a student should be counseled to enroll for the maximum length likely to be required, since WCA fee policy allows for a transfer of fees from an English course into an academic course at the College (under conditions as advised on the WCA fees webpage)
yellow_bullet The scholarship must be taken up for the session in which it is offered. Where an applicant defers the course commencement date to a starting date after the expiry of the offer, the scholarship may not be re-offered.
yellow_bullet This scholarship scheme supersedes all previous fee discount arrangements, except for:
  - students currently enrolled on one of these schemes
  - applicants who accept an offer for a course  commencing in 2009 based on an offer letter issued before 31 October 2008 with tuition fees made on the basis of existing discount schemes (including the current English language fee structure of $300 per week for courses of 15 weeks or more)
  - those who have a full tuition fee waiver.
yellow_bullet The offer of the scholarship will be included with the offer letter for the course for any eligible student, and will show the net fee, the amount of the scholarship and the full fee for the course. A note on the offer letter will direct the applicant to the conditions of the scholarship.

Applicants from Vietnam: For English language courses, scholarships are applicable only to applicants who have not met the English language requirements for direct admission to their academic course at WCA or UOW. If you shorten your course, or are successful in applying for a part refund on the course, the refund will be made in accordance with the fee applicable to the actual course length taken e.g if you enrol in 20 weeks of English of which the first five weeks is free, and then complete study after 15 weeks, you will be refunded 5 weeks tuition at standard cost ie $1,800
NOTE: This excludes the 'Limited English Scholarship Program' which applies to any eligible students studying 20+ weeks of English commencing between 1 October 2008 and 30 June 2009.
